Mohawk Bend to feature Anchor Brewing and Firestone Brewing for pint night, Wirtshaus launches ‘Stein Club’

Mohawk Bend in Echo Park will be hosting two separate pint nights starting at 5 PM on March 14 and 26. On March 14, Mohawk Bend with Paso Robles’ Firestone Walker Brewing Co. will feature a flight of four beers including their rare brew, barrel-aged, Velvet Merkin for $13 for pint night. On March 26, S.F.’s Anchor Brewing will be pouring a flight of four beers as well, including Anchor’s new Zymaster Series #1, a California lager for $10. 2141 W. German restaurant, Wirtshaus on La Brea in L.A. is kicking off a “Stein Club” starting on March 15. To join the club, guests must drink at least one pint of each draft beer offered within three months. Only 25 members will be accepted initially, members will receive a t-shirt, membership card, one free stein of beer per month and a personalized stein with an engraved nameplate hung above the bar. 345 N. Taking on L.A.’s Skid Row with the owners of The Escondite, DTLA’s burger and craft beer hideout

The Escondite, located in Skid Row adjacent to Little Tokyo in downtown L.A., blocks away from the epicenter of L.A.’s contemporary restaurant and bar culture. Co-owner Erin Carnes describes the area as, “a great location with a lot of history. It’s an old bar stemming way back to the 80′s called Al’s Bar (closed in 2001). People raged here – it was a celebrity hangout.” Her business partner Brian Traynam was emphatic about the location and endeared himself to all of its qualities, “it’s just such an awesome spot. Susan Feniger’s Street launches seasonal menu + vegan and vegetarian options

Susan Feniger’s Street in Hollywood, a restaurant focused on global foods with a modern twist, released a new seasonal food menu last Friday catering more to non-meat eaters. Curated by chef and co-owner Kajsa Alger and Susan Feniger, the season menu change features dishes like: Mung Bean Pancake with Scallion, Kimchi, and Shiitake; and Brown Rice Sushi Roll with Umeboshi, Apple and Burdock; Pea Shoots and Pork Belly with Mustard Oil, Coconut Fried Rice, and Soft Egg; and West Sumatra Beef Curry with Rice and Sweet Sambal. Gordon Ramsay’s new casual restaurant ‘The Fat Cow’ to open this summer at The Grove in L.A.

Last Friday, Eater LA reported on the opening of a gastropub by celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay at The Grove in L.A. More details are out today for the 200+ seat restaurant, The Fat Cow, a partnership with chef Andi Van Willigan who worked as Ramsay’s sous chef on Hell’s Kitchen and also serves as Corporate Executive U.S. Chef for Gordon Ramsay Holdings. The menu offering is said to be European inspired cuisine using ingredients from all local farms featuring house cured meats, cheeses, specialty dishes from the farmers market, and in house desserts.
