As we watch the Academy Awards this weekend from our comfy couches, we can pretend we got some of that Academy Award swag as Magnolia Bakery in L.A. is offering the Black Tie Box. Available in packs of six ($22) or twelve ($44) on February 25 and 26 only, the Black Tie Box is a combination of three cupcakes: Red Velvet with whipped vanilla icing, Flourless Chocolate with vanilla bean meringue butter-cream and the Black and White Cupcake – chocolate cake with chocolate butter-cream and whipped vanilla icing. City Tavern in Culver City is beginning its Market Basket Bartender program to shed some light on the cocktails available at the restaurant. Starting February 26, every Sunday from 3 PM to close, diners will be able to mix their own drinks based on seasonal ingredients decided upon by City Tavern bartenders Jeremy Back and Gia St. George.  Mixes will be made by blending a spirit, fruit, and syrup to combine one of three options within each category, creating a $6 cocktail. Spirits range from rum to rye to gin; the ‘fruit’ category will include fruit-flavors, herbs, and spices while the syrup section will include flavored syrups, bitters, and liqueurs. 9739 Culver Blvd, Culver City, CA 90232. 310-838-9739.
