Knuckle Sandwich DIPA release starting tomorrow
Pliny the Younger is not the only beer with all the hype. Fullerton, CA based Bootlegger’s Brewery is releasing their specialty – the Knuckle Sandwich DIPA (Double India Pale Ale;
same beer-style as the Younger) starting tomorrow. The release weekend will kick off Thursday, February 23 until Sunday, February 26. Owner Aaron Barkenhagen released a newsletter this afternoon stating the limited availability of the brew. The Knuckle Sandwich DIPA will not be distributed to retailers, only bars on kegs as “this time around we had to make a little less than December due to other production constraints.” There is a three bottle/one growler purchase limit per person. Featuring over 100 local businesses
For ten days in June, Coachella Valley will play host to the fifth annual Palm Springs Desert Resorts Restaurant Week, which will feature deals and packages for more than 100 local businesses. From June 1 – 10, local sponsors will enable visitors to “Eat. See. Stay.” Over 65 restaurants in Indio, Palm Springs, Indian Wells, Desert Hot Springs, Rancho Mirage, and surrounding areas will offer three-course, prix fixe menus ($24 or $36/person), special overnight hotel packages and discounted rates at attractions such as water-parks and golf courses during restaurant week.
This is not the first time we featured Crispy Pork Belly on The Dish and definitely not the last. Any pork aficionado would know that the pork belly is the most succulent part of a pig. It’s the kitchen preparations keeping certain parts of the belly both juicy and crispy. This Crispy Pork Belly served with braised white beans and candied lemon on top is from The Hopping Pig, a gastropub in San Diego’s Gaslamp District. This gastropub is not called The Hopping Pig for no reason, it’s presently serving seven pork-related items on the menu, including a dessert item – the Chocolate Bacon Crunch Bar. Read More

The Temecula Valley Winegrowers Association, comprised of 30 wineries and 60 winemakers, presents the 21st Annual World of Wine Barrel Tasting Weekend on March 3 and 4. This event brings together over 30 Temecula wineries as they allow guests to barrel taste wines while providing food and wine pairings with select vintages. City Tavern in Culver City is beginning its Market Basket Bartender program to shed some light on the cocktails available at the restaurant. Starting February 26, every Sunday from 3 PM to close, diners will be able to mix their own drinks based on seasonal ingredients decided upon by City Tavern bartenders Jeremy Back and Gia St. George. Mixes will be made by blending a spirit, fruit, and syrup to combine one of three options within each category, creating a $6 cocktail.
