On Thursday, January 19 starting at 7 PM, L.A. imbibers will be able to try spirits by San Diego’s Ballast Point at the Surly Goat in West Hollywood. That’s right, they’re not just a craft beer brewery, they also distill their own gin and rum. Craft spirits served that night will be served up in a specialty mug (guests will be able to purchase the “Ballast Point Pirate Skull Tiki Mug”, and get discounted refills during “Tiki Takeover”).
Distiller Yuseff Cherney & Sales Manager Matt Wilson will be onsite with cocktail blends using their barrel-aged 3 Sheets Rum plus the debut of a new vodka. Beer lovers will get a chance to try Ballast Point Indra Kunindra, a stout brewed with madras curry, cayenne pepper, cumin, toasted coconut, and kaffir lime leaf. 7929 Santa Monica Blvd., West Hollywood CA 90046.
Co-owner Roland Radler lived in Germany for over a decade before opening up Brats Brothers in Sherman Oaks, CA. The ‘Other’ Big Cheese is a pork bratwurst infused with cheddar held together by a large toasted French roll plus a choice of three different toppings (for an additional cost): sauerkraut (plain or grandma’s), roasted peppers and onions, onions (grilled or raw).
